Care Advocate Georgianne Hewett Care Advocate georgianne@fumcgt.org Georgianne grew up in the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in a family devoted to service. Her paternal grandfather served as church treasurer. Her grandmother was active in United Methodist Women, and her parents volunteered as adult leaders for Sunday School and Methodist Youth Fellowship. That foundation shaped her passion for mission, ministry, and communities of faith. Georgianne found her career path advocating for mission-driven organizations by cultivating relationships, communicating values, securing resources, and providing strategic direction. She served three United Methodist affiliated organizations before joining FUMC Georgetown in 2024 – Texas Methodist Foundation, Southwestern University, and The Wesleyan. In her work, she noticed how people struggle with change. In 2012, she invited change into her life by leaving a job she loved and setting out on a mid-life adventure. She sold her car, moved across country, and went back to school. She earned a Master of Science degree in learning and organizational change from Northwestern University (another institution founded by Methodists). Today, her personal ministry is helping people identify what they want, the choices available to them, and how to navigate the necessary changes to get there. Spare time is an oxymoron to Georgianne. She believes every moment in life should be held like a precious gift whether reading a good book, hiking the trails of Georgetown, visiting with a dear friend, writing (which fits under her definition of fun), or simply sitting quietly with God. Director of College-Age Ministry Kenny Bray Director of College-Age Ministry kenny@fumcgt.org Kenny, his wife Debbie, and their two sons, Ethan and Adam, have been members of FUMC since 2001. Prior to joining the FUMC staff, Kenny was an active volunteer with the youth for several years, going on mission trips, participating in youth activities, and leading small group Bible Study for Jr. High boys. In 2016, he sold his coffee and catering business of almost 25 years to follow his heart and pursue a calling in full-time youth ministry. He is determined to surround the youth with an unconditional love that fosters genuine relationships that will help build, strengthen, and grow their faith journey. One of his favorite things to do is support the students by attending activities such as sporting events, fine arts performances, and academic achievements. Associate Pastor Rev. Tina Schramme Associate Pastor tina@fumcgt.org Rev. Tina Schramme is an ordained Elder in the UMC and joined the FUMC Georgetown team in November 2022 as a full-time associate pastor. Besides preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and leading worship in all three of our services, she focuses on serving in our senior adult ministries. Tina has a Bachelor of Psychology degree from Angelo State University, and a Master’s degree in Human Development & Family Studies from the University of North Texas. She received her Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School in 2017 and is a trained Personal Coach. Key values for Tina are authenticity, laughter, flexibility, family (in whatever form it takes), honesty, and grace, grace, grace. Her ministry passions are helping people know they are deeply loved by God, as they are; teaching the Wesleyan way of understanding faith; and reaching the unchurched. Tina’s husband, Gene, is a builder and a teacher. They have two wonderful adult children, Parker and Grayson, and two dogs, Star and Molly. ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL At FUMC Georgetown, we offer a variety of Sunday school classes ranging from discussions, to book studies, to lecture style classes. Most classes meet from 9:45 AM-10:40 AM. All classes are timed to allow you to attend services. All of our classes welcome new people and would love to have you as their guest this Sunday. Women’s Bible and book study discussion group with a focus on shared spiritual journeys, prayer, and support. Our group is open to ladies of all ages and all situations. Group members check-in with each other about the ways God is working in their lives, the faith struggles they are having, and the prayers they are praying. Contemporary Forum A large adult class that includes couples and individuals mostly 65 and older but welcome to all adult ages. They cover a variety of topics. Location: Fellowship Hall Daily Bread Daily Bread is a discussion-oriented group covering a broad range of Bible and life application topics during their weekly gatherings. This group ranges from people in their 40's to 80's and they are active and welcoming. Location: Room 208. Discovery This class is a fellowship of adult believers seeking to grow in Christian discipleship through study, discussion, and serving our church and community. The Discovery Class has a heart for missions and actively participates in the mission field by volunteering and providing the tools and resources needed to help those in need. We also love to have fun together. Come join us on the journey! Location: Room 307 Friendship Adult class of mainly active senior adults, but all adult ages are welcome. The lessons, led by a team of teachers and other class members, feature a combination of lecture and discussion on a variety of Biblically-based topics. Location: Rooms 1001 and 1002 Foundry The Foundry class is a Christian community in an unpretentious setting that studies the Bible by focusing on the actual texts through presentations and discussions drawing on historical, cultural, philosophical, and interpretive materials to enhance our understanding of the scriptures. Location: Room 1003 Good News This Sunday School class strives to provide both personal support to our members through social interaction every Sunday and spiritual support by applying lectionary scripture lessons to our daily lives. Location: Parlor The Sandlot A multi-generational group who gathers like the kids in the sandlot but instead of playing baseball, we come together to study God's word. The diversity in ages and stages keeps the discussions interesting. Location: Room 209. Sunday Morning Covenant Group This group supports each other in their spiritual growth in the tradition of John Wesley. Questions or current event issues are introduced for discussion from week to week according to how the Spirit leads. They also inquire how they have experienced God in the previous week, share their joys and concerns with each other, and pray for each other. Care is taken to assure discussions are held closely amongst those gathered. Location: Room 305.

The Being and Becoming Covenant Group meets on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30–5:00 PM. Micah Workers A group that is devoted to creating God’s beloved community in our church and beyond. Getsemani Community Garden Getsemani Garden, founded in 2012, is operated at our Getsemani property at 412 E. 19th St. The community garden grows food for those in need, offers neighbors a place to garden, and provides lessons on how to garden. This ministry equips orphaned children and youth-led families with solutions to overcome extreme poverty—for good. This class combines fun activities with meaningful lessons tailored to their age group, fostering spiritual growth and community connections. Every Sunday, from 9:45 to 10:40 , come discover a welcoming space where young minds can explore faith in a way that's both relevant and enjoyable. FUMC has a diverse variety of Adult Sunday School classes ranging from discussions, to book studies, to lecture style classes. Most classes meet from 9:45 - 10:40 AM, between our Traditional and Contemporary classes. We also have a new ministry starting at FUMC that will create a space for 'Youngish' adults (both with and without children) to come together and grow in their relationships. Our hope is that this ministry will help its members create lifelong connections that will follow them through all of the stages of life. The FUMC Georgetown campus is large and sometimes difficult to navigate. This historic church has undergone many construction projects throughout its almost 125-year history. Therefore, sometimes it can be difficult to find classrooms, offices, and even restrooms. If you are on our campus, please do not hesitate to ask for directions! WHERE SHOULD I PARK? There are three parking lots around the FUMC Georgetown campus with many parking spaces for those with limited mobility as well as parking spaces for guests. A covered drive is also available at the back of the main building to safely drop off those in your family with limited mobility. Off-campus parking is available each Sunday in two locations: the parking lot on the corner of Myrtle Street and University Avenue (behind Tony and Luigi's restaurant), and the parking lot behind the GISD Administration building (across University Avenue from FUMC Campus). This means we do not provide set answers but offer context and guidance to help the teachings of scripture become more real in each child or student’s own life. Our focus is to help each child and student build a foundation in faith that will continue to be developed throughout their lives. We support our families with resources and opportunities to share this journey with their children and students, including at-home activities, with suggested guidelines and materials. Adults At FUMC, we celebrate our community as a dynamic place for all adults. We value the unique experiences and insights that each person brings, actively seeking ways to harness their talents and creativity across our ministries. We recognize the challenges that come with different life stages and are committed to offering a variety of programs and support for everyone, fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment for all. Missions & Outreach We have long been a community leader and partner in helping to alleviate the needs of those in crisis and living at the margins of society. Our outreach efforts mirror our other focus areas in that we have a multi-faceted initiative geared towards assisting children and students in reaching their academic potential. This initiative involves several GISD campuses and works with partnerships to address obstacles, build relationships, and support the overall growth of children and students. We also provide financial support and volunteer resources for non-profits who support senior adults, such as Meals on Wheels, Faith in Action, the Wesleyan Homes, and other valued partners.
