Director of College-Age Ministry Kenny Bray Director of College-Age Ministry kenny@fumcgt.org Kenny, his wife Debbie, and their two sons, Ethan and Adam, have been members of FUMC since 2001. Prior to joining the FUMC staff, Kenny was an active volunteer with the youth for several years, going on mission trips, participating in youth activities, and leading small group Bible Study for Jr. High boys. In 2016, he sold his coffee and catering business of almost 25 years to follow his heart and pursue a calling in full-time youth ministry. He is determined to surround the youth with an unconditional love that fosters genuine relationships that will help build, strengthen, and grow their faith journey. One of his favorite things to do is support the students by attending activities such as sporting events, fine arts performances, and academic achievements. ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL At FUMC Georgetown, we offer a variety of Sunday school classes ranging from discussions, to book studies, to lecture style classes. Most classes meet from 9:45 AM-10:40 AM. All classes are timed to allow you to attend services. All of our classes welcome new people and would love to have you as their guest this Sunday. Women’s Bible and book study discussion group with a focus on shared spiritual journeys, prayer, and support. Our group is open to ladies of all ages and all situations. Location: Room 303 Class Meeting This group meets weekly on Sunday mornings in the Wesleyan style of a class meeting. Group members check-in with each other about the ways God is working in their lives, the faith struggles they are having, and the prayers they are praying. Group size maximum is 10 people, so when the group grows beyond that, they divide and start a new group. Location: Room 301. Contemporary Forum A large adult class that includes couples and individuals mostly 65 and older but welcome to all adult ages. They cover a variety of topics. Location: Fellowship Hall Daily Bread Daily Bread is a discussion-oriented group covering a broad range of Bible and life application topics during their weekly gatherings. This group ranges from people in their 40's to 80's and they are active and welcoming. Location: Room 208. Discovery This class is a fellowship of adult believers seeking to grow in Christian discipleship through study, discussion, and serving our church and community. The Discovery Class has a heart for missions and actively participates in the mission field by volunteering and providing the tools and resources needed to help those in need. We also love to have fun together. Come join us on the journey! Location: Room 307 Friendship Adult class of mainly active senior adults, but all adult ages are welcome. The lessons, led by a team of teachers and other class members, feature a combination of lecture and discussion on a variety of Biblically-based topics. Location: Rooms 1001 and 1002 Foundry The Foundry class is a Christian community in an unpretentious setting that studies the Bible by focusing on the actual texts through presentations and discussions drawing on historical, cultural, philosophical, and interpretive materials to enhance our understanding of the scriptures. Location: Room 1003 Good News This Sunday School class strives to provide both personal support to our members through social interaction every Sunday and spiritual support by applying lectionary scripture lessons to our daily lives. Location: Parlor The Sandlot A multi-generational group who gathers like the kids in the sandlot but instead of playing baseball, we come together to study God's word. The diversity in ages and stages keeps the discussions interesting. Location: Room 209. Sunday Morning Covenant Group This group supports each other in their spiritual growth in the tradition of John Wesley. Questions or current event issues are introduced for discussion from week to week according to how the Spirit leads. They also inquire how they have experienced God in the previous week, share their joys and concerns with each other, and pray for each other. Care is taken to assure discussions are held closely amongst those gathered. Location: Room 305.

Contemporary Worship Coordinator Mandi Griffin Contemporary Worship Coordinator mandi@fumcgt.org Mandi is a native Texan and has been a Georgetown resident since 2014. She is a Southwestern graduate and has been an Elementary teacher for the past 18 years. Her love of music has been a theme throughout her life and thankfully led her to join The Stirring in 2015. She has been a member of FUMC Georgetown since then and has been blessed with two boys, Wesley and Justin, who both enjoy the Children’s Ministries at the church. Mandi loves helping with the music during VBS and co-directing Music Camp in the summer. She hopes that her love of worshipping God through music brings joy and peace to our church and the community. We emphasize that no question is too small or unworthy, and no one will be judged for their doubts or struggles. This openness allows students to explore their faith with honesty and authenticity. Positive Mentorship Teens are often drawn to the loudest voices around them. The youth group offers positive role models who provide guidance rooted in faith and wisdom. Through mentorship, we can help them discern the path God has set before them. Our mentors are dedicated to loving and guiding the youth without judgment. Each student’s journey is unique, and our role as mentors is to offer support through compassion, understanding, and grace—no matter what choices they face or struggles they encounter. Engaging Scripture & Faith Practices By grounding their decisions in scripture, teens can find clarity in the chaos. Psalm 16:11 reminds us that God will show us the way of life. In our youth group, we engage with the Bible to help young people find purpose, direction, and peace. We approach scripture with love and openness, encouraging students to ask tough questions and express their doubts without fear of judgment. We believe that God’s love is unconditional, and so too is the love and support we offer each other in our faith journey. Service & Outreach One of the best ways to guide our youth is through service. By focusing on helping others, they can find joy, purpose, and meaning beyond the distractions of daily life. Through service, they experience the joy of living in God’s presence. In serving others, we model God’s unconditional love. Whether we’re helping those in need or serving within our own community, we teach our youth that everyone is deserving of love and respect, regardless of their circumstances. Together We Can Guide Our Youth By offering a supportive environment grounded in unconditional love, free of judgment, and focused on building strong relationships, our First United Methodist Youth group helps young people find direction and purpose during this pivotal time. PRAYER MINISTRY We are a praying congregation, and we covenant to be in prayer for the concerns on the hearts of our community. Here at FUMC Georgetown, we seek to support each other through prayer. There are a number of opportunities for prayer including prayer times in our weekly worship services, prayer in small groups, and praying the labyrinth located on our church campus. Prayer Groups Prayer Partner Teams Our Prayer Partners ministry consists of teams of three to five people who pray with our pastors before worship and commit to pray for our pastors and staff on a regular basis. We are committed to growing and expanding our prayer ministry to bless our entire church family and provide critical prayer support for our church’s mission of “Living Out God’s Love Everywhere We Go.” Prayer Shawl Ministry Team Our Prayer Shawl Ministry Team meets weekly on Thursday mornings at 10:30 AM to pray for the needs of our congregation, to work on our knitting, crocheting, and quilting projects, and to pray over our completed shawls and lap robes. Centering Prayer Group Our Centering Prayer Group provides an opportunity once a week for group study and reflection followed by a 20-minute period of silence. They meet on Tuesdays at 10:00 AM at the Wesleyan Independent Living Chapel. The purpose of the group is to help people develop a closer relationship with God. They use the method taught by Contemplative Outreach and maintain an affiliation with Heart of Texas Contemplative Outreach. They find that praying in the centering manner together is very helpful for inviting God to be present within them and making them what God intends for them to be. Prayer Labyrinth Located next to the MCMC, the prayer labyrinth is a winding path that leads unerringly to the center where you are invited to stay and pray. When you are ready, turn around and walk the same winding path out again. As you complete your prayer walk and walk back out to the edge you may feel a new sense of empowerment to love God and love your neighbor. The prayer labyrinth can help calm the mind, relax the body, reduce stress, and provide space that helps guide your mind and heart in prayer. Function follows form; this form, the prayer labyrinth, leads your mind to new places in prayer. The path is a metaphor for a journey with God in which you can trust God every step of the way.

Associate Pastor Rev. Tina Schramme Associate Pastor tina@fumcgt.org Rev. Tina Schramme is an ordained Elder in the UMC and joined the FUMC Georgetown team in November 2022 as a full-time associate pastor. Besides preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and leading worship in all three of our services, she focuses on serving in our senior adult ministries. Tina has a Bachelor of Psychology degree from Angelo State University, and a Master’s degree in Human Development & Family Studies from the University of North Texas. She received her Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School in 2017 and is a trained Personal Coach. Key values for Tina are authenticity, laughter, flexibility, family (in whatever form it takes), honesty, and grace, grace, grace. Her ministry passions are helping people know they are deeply loved by God, as they are; teaching the Wesleyan way of understanding faith; and reaching the unchurched. Tina’s husband, Gene, is a builder and a teacher. They have two wonderful adult children, Parker and Grayson, and two dogs, Star and Molly. PALS PALS Place PALs Place is a respite ministry for people in our community who are challenged by the complications of Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. PALs Place meets every Monday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The only exception to that is a Monday when the church office is closed. Caregivers bring their loved ones to the McKinney Christian Ministry Center where they are offered conversation, activities, lunch, exercise, and entertainment. Applications for PALs Participants may be picked up in the church office. For more information, contact care@fumcgt.org or call the church office at 512-863-2370. PALS Support Group The PALs Support Group is for caregivers and family members of loved ones diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementia-related illnesses. The support group meets on the second Monday of each month at 10:00 AM (except on holidays when it meets on the second Monday) in the McKinney Christian Ministry Center room 1003. Members of the group are encouraged about their daily situations and good habits of self-care. They are given information that will guide them to make good choices for the care of their loved ones. The group meets during the time of our PALs Ministry, but it is not necessary that participants in the support group have a loved one in our PALs Ministry. Specialized Care Groups Grief Support Group First United Methodist Church is offering a support group for those experiencing grief and loss. GriefShare is a 13-week grief recovery support group, featuring videos on varying topics of grief and recovery as well as small group time for listening and sharing. This newest version of GriefShare was just released and includes updated videos and workbooks. The suggested donation for materials is $25. Funerals & Memorials Services At FUMC, we are honored to host memorials or funerals for departed loved ones. Grace Garden Columbarium Located in the center of the FUMC Campus, Grace Garden is a beautiful place of peace not only for those who come to remember departed loved ones, but also for those desiring a place of reflection and prayer. Families who choose cremation for their loved ones will find Grace Garden a wonderful option. Within the walls of the garden, the restful sounds of the Trinity fountain are surrounded by beautiful foliage and statuary, offering a tranquil and private setting for meditation. The garden's peaceful setting creates a comfortable meeting place for families and friends to gather in love and remembrance, a consoling link between life and death in our community of worship. CARE MINISTRY At First United Methodist Georgetown we seek to be aware of the joys and concerns of our faith community and of our extended church family. We offer peer counseling through our trained Stephen Ministers. We also offer short term support groups to help our members and guests find their way through difficult circumstances. Congregational Care Pastoral Support Pastors are available to visit and pray with you and/or loved ones in times of illness, death, or other crisis. Stephen Ministry Stephen Ministry is a program of our congregation that equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances, both in our congregation and community. Stephen Ministers are committed Christian people who express God’s care to others through regular visits to offer Christian support and care. Stephen Ministers participate in regular support and supervision under the guidance of trained Stephen Leaders.
