A MidWinter Retreat

A story about a Student Discipleship Retreat by Rachel May

I went on the Mid Winter Retreat to Glen Lake Camp in February. Overall, it was a very uplifting experience. I grew in my faith, made new friends, and grew in my relationships with my old friends. My work group was honored to help clean up the landscaping of what was to be Glen Rose Baptist Church. Working with Ferris Heights UMC, we picked up fallen tree branches and raked and shoveled leaves into trash bags to be thrown away. Throughout the trip, in my small group led by Rodnei Williams from Wellspring UMC here in Georgetown, as well as in the worship services led by Casey Langley, I learned more about who Jesus is. Alongside the times of learning, there were many opportunities to just hang out and have fun. Whether it was the intense sand volleyball tournament, playing and competing in the underground church game, working on the service project to help make shoes out of old jeans, or just laughing with friends, the trip was full of fun! It was such an outstanding experience that I cannot wait to go back again next year.
