Sunday School Volunteer Student Ministry Core Values Relationship Building Building strong relationships within the youth group provides a sense of belonging and support. These friendships help teens feel understood, reducing feelings of isolation, especially during times of uncertainty. Our youth group relationships are built on the foundation of love and acceptance. We celebrate the diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and personalities within our group, ensuring that each student feels valued and loved for who they are. Safe Space for Reflection Our youth face countless questions and uncertainties. The youth group offers a safe and welcoming environment where they can express their doubts and explore their faith freely. We encourage reflection and open discussions that allow them to connect with others going through similar experiences. In our group, each student is loved and accepted as they are. We emphasize that no question is too small or unworthy, and no one will be judged for their doubts or struggles. This openness allows students to explore their faith with honesty and authenticity. Positive Mentorship Teens are often drawn to the loudest voices around them. The youth group offers positive role models who provide guidance rooted in faith and wisdom. Through mentorship, we can help them discern the path God has set before them. Our mentors are dedicated to loving and guiding the youth without judgment. Each student’s journey is unique, and our role as mentors is to offer support through compassion, understanding, and grace—no matter what choices they face or struggles they encounter. Engaging Scripture & Faith Practices By grounding their decisions in scripture, teens can find clarity in the chaos. Psalm 16:11 reminds us that God will show us the way of life. In our youth group, we engage with the Bible to help young people find purpose, direction, and peace. We approach scripture with love and openness, encouraging students to ask tough questions and express their doubts without fear of judgment. We believe that God’s love is unconditional, and so too is the love and support we offer each other in our faith journey. Service & Outreach One of the best ways to guide our youth is through service. By focusing on helping others, they can find joy, purpose, and meaning beyond the distractions of daily life. Through service, they experience the joy of living in God’s presence. In serving others, we model God’s unconditional love. Whether we’re helping those in need or serving within our own community, we teach our youth that everyone is deserving of love and respect, regardless of their circumstances. Together We Can Guide Our Youth By offering a supportive environment grounded in unconditional love, free of judgment, and focused on building strong relationships, our First United Methodist Youth group helps young people find direction and purpose during this pivotal time. Families, mentors, and the church community can work together to show them the way—just as God promises in Psalm 16:11. Student Ministry Director Rev. Kellie Brewer Student Ministry Director kellie@fumcgt.org Kellie is thrilled to step into the role of Student Ministry Director here at FUMC. Kellie is currently completing her Master of Divinity degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and is a certified candidate for ordination to the order of Deacon in the United Methodist Church, Rio Texas Conference. Originally from Georgia, Kellie spent the first years of her career as a professional church musician: directing choirs, playing organ and piano, and leading handbell ensembles. After years of teaching Vacation Bible School, working in the nursery, and chaperoning summer camps, she answered the call to a more pastoral role of serving children, youth and their families, where she discovered a passion for teaching young people about God’s love and relevance for their lives. Most recently she has been serving as the Children, Youth and Family Ministry Assistant and Children’s Choir Director at an Episcopal church in Austin, so she is very much looking forward to returning home to her family in the United Methodist Church. Director of Music & Worship Arts Marc Profant Director of Music & Worship Arts marc@fumcgt.org Marc is a Florida native, born and raised just minutes from the beach on the Gulf Coast of central Florida. Marc is excited to be a part of the FUMC family! Prior to joining the staff at FUMC in October of 2022, Marc has worked as a music educator in schools and served as Music Director/Organist in churches in Florida, Colorado, and Texas. For over 25 years his music career has spanned both choral and instrumental worlds. Marc studied choral conducting with Dr. Ray Robinson and instrumental conducting with Dr. Alexander Jimenez and Lawrence Leighton Smith (Conductor, Colorado Springs Philharmonic). Marc was a member of the a cappella ensemble The Colorado Vocal Arts Ensemble. He had the wonderful opportunity to travel abroad and serve as the Artistic Director of The India Children’s Choir. Over the years, Marc has led his church choirs in the rehearsing and performing of major choral works such as Faure Requiem, Handel Messiah, Rutter Gloria and Magnificat, Durufle Requiem, Vivaldi Gloria, Lauridsen Lux Aeterna, just to mention a few, and all accompanied with full orchestra. Marc’s passion is using his gifts and skills in leading out in vibrant and uplifting worship for the local church while equipping and empowering others to do the same! Marc holds a music degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. In his down time, he loves to travel and spend time with his friends and get back to the Colorado mountains as often as possible. He is a HUGE tennis fan and enjoys cooking and grilling. Most mornings you can find him in his rocking chair on his front porch with coffee in hand ready to start the day! Marc is thrilled to be a part of the ministry team and serve at FUMC! Senior Pastor Rev. Alan McGrath Senior Pastor alan@fumcgt.org Alan grew up in the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. His home church, New World in Arlington, introduced him to Glen Lake Camp, summer mission trips, and youth choir tours. Receiving his first appointment in 1999, Alan has served churches of all styles and sizes from a church start in Mansfield, a multi-staff church in Acton, a country church in Brock, a community-focused Hutto church, and most recently FUMC Killeen serving many military families. His sermons are likely to include encouragements to love our neighbor, serve in the community, and grow in understanding the grace of God open to all people through Jesus Christ. Alan met Traci at the A&M Wesley Foundation and they held their wedding in the chapel at Glen Lake Camp. Traci leads an enrichment program in Georgetown called Treehouse Learning Community. Their oldest son, Pax, loves baseball and basketball while their youngest, Beckett, is usually outdoors creating or learning more about nature. The McGraths love to camp in our Texas State Parks and frequently avoid the summer heat vacationing in New Mexico or Colorado. Next Item Previous Item

Dan Bryan January 17, 1954 - January 21, 2026 I knew Dan as a physician when he was a representative of a pharmaceutical company. He was never in a bad mood; always cheerful and upbeat. He took me fishing several times and nearly always brought Round rock donuts to the office when we had a short visit about his company's products. I knew Dan as a long term member of the Discovery Sunday school class, where he was a member; I would estimate for over 30 years. Once again, his ebullient personality was never failing, and he was famous for bringing donuts even when it was no special occasion. Finally, I knew Dan as a hiking and camping companion. I can still see him, in the early morning darkness as we were leaving for west Texas, with a large Thermos of coffee and a dozen donuts. Needless to say, there was never a quiet lapse in the conversation in that truck for the next 8 hours. He introduced me to Chili Cheese Fritos, which I still take on hiking trips. -Stephen My Friend Sit’n on a tailgate, chew’n Levi Garrett Sprint’n the hills, jog’n the flats, 10Ks for the spirit Tennis with a lefty, ‘Far Side’ golf Studebaker table dances & OU still sucks! Oh, Danny boy you will be missed Yet be with us when, we raise our glasses. -Doctor Bob Having known Dan since age six, it’s difficult to segregate my thoughts of him focused only on our high school days together. When someone is an oldest, closest, lifelong friend, the task is even greater. And when that person was as much a brother to me as my own siblings, I really could go on and on. Much like a line from one of Dan’s favorite singers - Gary P. Nunn’s song WHAT I LIKE ABOUT TEXAS, ‘I could tell you what I like about Dan (or Texas), but it would take me all night long’. Anyway, I’ll give it a try. Brotherhood is the word that best describes Dan’s place in my life. That feeling I know is shared by many, many of the people we grew up with. From the first grade until we graduated high school, a very fortunate group of us kids had the privilege to know Dan as a friend and classmate. Whether through sports, or school activities or just hanging out in the neighborhood, Dan was so easy to like, and I think he genuinely liked most everyone. He was a bit of a class clown, always ready with a joke. And as noted by many of us… he always laughed at his own jokes! (smile). Dan was just a friendly face we never got tired of seeing. But there was that one time when he performed at a pep rally dressed as a cheerleader… with that AWFUL wig on his head and the hairiest legs in Garland showing under that short skirt… I guess that’s maybe one of the indelible images of Dan I’ll never forget… even if I wanted to! (smile). And I surely won’t forget him as a brother Racoon… a somewhat suspect club of high school boys living it up in the late 60s-70s. Dan was a great kid, a devout man, husband and father, and simply the type of true friend that we all wish for. I have known for all my life that if ever I was in need, Dan would be right there to help. Rest in peace my brother. -Glenn I remember the precise moment I met Dan Bryan. It was the first day of classes at the University of Texas, the fall semester on August 16, 1976, almost exactly 50! years ago. I took the last empty seat in the front row of Dr. Walker’s Small Business Finance class. Dr. Walker began this first class with a question, “What is THE most important goal of all small businesses?” From the back of the classroom an eager student said, “profit”, another said “growth”, someone else said “return on equity”. “Wrong”, said Dr. Walker. The guy sitting next to me in the front row and I both snickered. We had not met before, but our snickering suddenly put us in the professor’s crosshairs together. Alternating his gaze between the two of us, Dr. Walker says, “So, do you two gentlemen have a better answer?” And in perfect unison together we answered, “survival!” “That’s right” said Dr. Walker, “the first goal in any business is survival”. We both earned “A’s” in Dr. Walker's class. And we went on to take many classes together, became College roommates, and -- before we quite realized it -- lifelong friends. After college we both moved to Houston to launch our careers. We shared the experience of raising families, and most importantly, the development of our faith in Jesus Christ. Dan and Marci, along with Dave and Nancy, even hosted Debbie and me on our very first date, -- New Year’s Eve 1978. And we spent many New Year’s eves together after that! What I remember most vividly from that very first day -- 50 years ago -- was Dan’s smile. It was the most infectious smile I’ve ever known -- one of Dan’s true superpowers. His smile initiated friendships instantly. Dan was an incurable optimist. And if Dan was your friend, you were never just an acquaintance. By his example Dan taught us that deep lasting friendships begin with being a friend. As much as Dan liked to talk, Dan listened carefully. If you faced a problem, Dan was there. When there was any celebration, Dan dropped everything to be by your side. I will miss Dan’s big bear hugs more than I can say. Survival matters in business, but Dan Bryan knew that it is friendship that truly endures and defines a life. Like many others he worked with he became one of my most influential mentors. During my calls to our work colleagues it was very clear that I was just one of many who claimed Dan as their Mentor. One of those I contacted told me that Dan was not only his Mentor at work but his Mentor for how to live your life. That captures a big part of who Dan was. Dan was good to everyone. Of course, we will remember Dan's engaging personality and his ability to remember and tell us hundreds of jokes, but what I will also remember is that Dan Bryan was one of the best men I have known. I've got tears in my eyes today but when I think of Dan I will have a smile on my face because he always made me smile. Love you Dan, -Gary Dan The Man. Danimal. Finance Director Honey Habingreither Finance Director honey@fumcgt.org Honey was born and raised in Lufkin - situated deep in the Piney Woods of East Texas. After graduating from Lufkin High School, Honey attended The University of Texas at Austin. Following a brief 1.5 years in Dallas, Honey returned to Central Texas to marry her college sweetheart, Jason, and has remained in the greater Austin area since 2001. Honey and her family have been members of FUMC Georgetown since 2018. Prior to joining the FUMC staff in May 2023, she has enjoyed serving as Treasurer for PTAs throughout Georgetown ISD and booster clubs at Georgetown High School as well as volunteering with student ministries at FUMC Georgetown. Honey also serves as a member of the Micah Workers for Racial Justice at FUMC Georgetown. She is excited to join the staff and will primarily assist Children and Student Ministries. Contemporary Worship Coordinator Mandi Griffin Contemporary Worship Coordinator mandi@fumcgt.org Mandi is a native Texan and has been a Georgetown resident since 2014. She is a Southwestern graduate and has been an Elementary teacher for the past 18 years. Her love of music has been a theme throughout her life and thankfully led her to join The Stirring in 2015. She has been a member of FUMC Georgetown since then and has been blessed with two boys, Wesley and Justin, who both enjoy the Children’s Ministries at the church. Mandi loves helping with the music during VBS and co-directing Music Camp in the summer. She hopes that her love of worshipping God through music brings joy and peace to our church and the community. Audio-Visual Team Emelia Bruton Audio-Visual Team Emelia is a Georgetown native. She has been attending FUMC Georgetown with her family since 2012. She is the oldest of three children. As a child, she was part of the children’s choir and handbell ensemble and is currently a member of the church orchestra. Before being officially hired, Emelia edited the pre-recorded services posted during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. She continued to do odd jobs during this period, including the production of the virtual chancel choir and church orchestra performances released on FUMC’s Youtube channel. In August of 2021, she was officially hired and began creating the slide presentations used in every worship service. Every Sunday, she can be spotted in the sanctuary balcony, running the slideshow or manning the cameras for that service’s livestream. Emelia is studying English at Southwestern University and plans to graduate in 2025. She works at the Southwestern Library as a library assistant, and the Debby Ellis Writing Center as a writing consultant. She plays French horn and is a member of both the wind ensemble and the Band of Pirates, Southwestern’s pep band. Additionally, she is a member of the service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega and serves on the university’s Honor Code Council. In her free time, Emelia enjoys reading, watching television shows, and thinking very hard about the things she reads and watches. Next Item Previous Item

Media Director Lisa Blake Media Director lisa@fumcgt.org Lisa serves as Media Director, managing FUMC’s print and digital presence. Prior to joining the FUMC staff, Lisa worked in the Architecture industry in DFW, with corporate clients such as Randall’s/Tom Thumb stores, Whole Foods, and United supermarkets. After moving to Georgetown in 2008, Lisa focused her talents on branding and graphic design for freelance clients. Then in 2011, Lisa joined the staff at FUMC as Graphic Designer, where she established the church’s visual identity, redesigned the church newsletters, created an eNews option, and developed the church’s social media presence. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve her church with her skills in design. 
In her spare time, Lisa enjoys mid-century modern art, Craftsman-style architecture, music (especially Lord Huron and Head & The Heart), hiking, kayaking, and traveling. Next Item Previous Item
