How can I serve?

Chancel Choir: Members of our SATB traditional Chancel Choir sing for 8:30 and/or 11:00 sanctuary services throughout the year; some seasonal services such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday; and adds an extra blessing to Advent and Christmas services as well as to Lent and Easter worship. Choir membership is open throughout the year as well as seasonally, and rehearsals are Wednesdays 7:00-8:30. We welcome all singers, but currently have most openings in our 1st Soprano and Bass sections. Please contact for more information or to join.

Contemporary Christian Music in the 11:00 sanctuary service: Do you enjoy singing the new Christian music with the radio or iTunes, or at home with your own guitar? Like to sing but Chancel Choir might not be your thing? We are looking for new voices to sometimes sing newer, more contemporary songs in the sanctuary services. Not only voices, but also acoustic guitar, light percussion, additional instruments if interested. Youth, young adult, and 30s-50s welcome! Please contact

Instrumental Ensemble: Openings for Woodwind, Brass, String, Percussion for short-term or ongoing ensemble playing. Are you in band or orchestra at school? Did you used to play, haven't lately, but would like to pick it up again? Youth and adult, all ages and levels--there's something here for everyone who can play! We have purchased beautiful new music for instrumental ensembles (as well as solo and duo music), and we are ready to begin rehearsals with those interested and available! Rehearsal times will be determined by what works best for those involved. Please contact to express interest, tell which instrument you play, and talk about your available rehearsal days/times.

Ushers: Our ushers are a big part of worship at First Church! Warmly greeting our members and guests, handing out worship guides and prayer pamphlets, helping those in worship find a good seat, giving directions around our campus and church building, and taking up the offering collection are some of the primary duties of our ushers. This is not a weekly commitment but can be monthly, bimonthly, or a few times a year. Ushers sign up for either 8:30 or 11:00 services, and generally for a particular week of the month. All are welcome, but we currently have most openings for women and youth. Make a visible difference in our worship! Please contact with questions or to volunteer.

Audio/Visual Team: We are expanding our audio/visual team to assist in the worship services. The job includes setup of screen and projector in the sanctuary for video presentations; running the projector/computer during the service; assisting with sound board. No experience necessary. On the job training is available. Please contact Ken Browning or the church office at 512.863.2370

Office: We invite you to serve on this ministry team to assist in greeting people, answering phones, making copies and much more. Come and enjoy the fellowship! Please contact Charli at 512-863-2370.

Storytelling Team: We are seeking your creative talents in video and print production as we tell more stories of grace and discipleship here at FUMC Georgetown.  Videography, Editting, Setdressing, Styling, Writing skills are welcome. Please contact for more information and to share your skillset and experience.
