Director, Learning Tree
Emily joined the Learning Tree staff as a teacher ten years ago. Prior to that all three of her children attended Learning Tree. She realized through her experience as a parent that her passion is for The Learning Tree to remain a place where every child feels loved and secure. Her classroom experience gave her a deep understanding and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice. Now, as the director it is clear that her gift of teaching is a true balance of art and skill as she leads the preschool teachers in providing a nurturing environment for the children each day. Her leadership style is also seen in how she relates with the parents of the little ones who come to The Learning Tree - she is consistent in extending that nurturing welcome to all.
Administrative Assistant, Business Office
Shawna joined the administrative team in 2012. She brought five years of experience with a Q/A Software Company with her and is currently studying at ACC towards a degree in Software Testing Specialization. She enjoys working with the team here and helping people in their discipleship process by maintaining the church calendar of events. Her favorite day to work is Sunday, because she gets to see all the fun people here at First United Methodist Church. When she is not working, Shawna enjoys reading and working out at the gym.
Doris has had the pleasure of caring for our beautiful church for the last 13 years. She feels blessed to care for and maintain God's home. Being a part of this wonderful church family has been an amazing experience for her. Through the years, she has come to know and love this congregation. They have become her friends and her church family. Caring for the Sanctuary and the Learning Tree brings her such joy, because it is her way of showing how much everyone truly means to her.
